Sewanee's 13,000-acre campus provides a powerful natural laboratory for students and faculty to understand sustainability and the environment. The Sewanee community refers to the swath of land as The Domain, an appellation befitting an asset that is intrinsic to the university. The topography is rugged and diverse, invitingly so. There are caves, coves and cliffs, waterfalls and wetlands, meadows, ponds, forests, streams and lakes–an environment that begs to be explored.
