Graduation 2015 (and 2014)

Bachelor’s Degrees numbered 347 at The Convocation for the Conferring of Degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences on May 10, 2015:

  • Jaclyn Valadka received her B.A. cum Laude with Psychology as her Major Field of Study and a Minor in Neuroscience;  she was inducted as a member of Psi Chi—The International Honor Society in Psychology
  • Nathan Warren received his B.S. with a Major concentration in Psychology and Neuroscience as a Minor

The faculty who teach courses in Neuroscience warmly congratulate these new alumni.

The program began when Dr. Jessica Siegel initiated conversations with interested faculty holding appointments in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Philosophy, and Psychology.    The College Faculty approved the Minor Field of Study in Neuroscience at its April 2013 meeting;  it examines the nervous system and its contribution to our experiences through a truly interdisciplinary approach.  The five members of the initial Steering Committee were Jessica Siegel (Psychology, Chair), Bethel Sharma Seballos (Chemistry), John Palisano (Biology), Elise Kikis (Biology), and Helen Bateman (Psychology).  Dr. Kikis will become Chair as of July 2015.

The first four students to complete the Neuroscience Minor Field of Study were among the 348 who received their Bachelor’s Degrees at The Convocation for the Conferring of Degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences on May 11, 2014:

  • Mimi Boggs received a B.S. with a Psychology Major and a Neuroscience Minor
  • Chris Daniell received his B.S. Summa cum Laude with honors in Psychology and Minor Fields of Study in Neuroscience and in Anthropology;  he was inducted into The Phi Beta Kappa Society—the nation’s oldest academic honor society and into Psi Chi—The International Honor Society in Psychology
  • Paige Lowe was awarded a B.A. with Psychology as the Major Field of Study and both Neuroscience and Women’s & Gender Studies as Minor Fields
  • Kayla Pelfrey received her B.S. cum Laude with honors in Psychology and a Minor in Neuroscience
