Three members of the Sewanee music faculty will present a recital on Sunday, March 12, at 3 p.m. in Guerry Auditorium. The recital, "English Tea Time" will include Rebecca Van de Ven, oboe; Jessica Usherwood, voice; Bernadette Lo, piano; and Sewanee Symphony Orchestra member Robert Lamborn, trombone.
The program will feature works by Ralph Vaughan Williams showcasing poetry by William Blake, dances from English Suites by J.S. Bach, a sonata by York Bowen, and Benjamin Britten’s Six Metamorphosis after Ovid inspired by Roman mythology.
Listeners are encouraged to come in their English finery and enjoy tea, biscuits and music. There is no admission charge for the concert but, donations will be accepted, all of the which are designated to the Jazz Band to purchase music and instruments.
