Forestry Major

A study of forest ecosystems and the environmental components and processes (biological, physical, and chemical) that affect them.

Required courses:

  • Dendrology (Fors 211)
  • Silviculture (Fors 312)
  • Forestry Ecology (Fors 305)
  • Forest & Watershed Restoration (Fors 262)
  • Natural Resource Management (Fors 319)
  • One additional Forestry course
  • Physical Geology (Geol 121)
  • Soils (Fors 303) or Hydrology (Geol 314)
  • Oral Presentations (Fors/Geol 332)
  • Senior Interdisciplinary Field Project (Fors/Geol 432)
Also Required:
  • Chem 100 or Chem 120
  • One of the following: Biol 130, 200, Biol course (lab), an additional Chem course (lab), Phys 105, Phys 106, or Enst 240
Recommended (not required): 
  • An additional Chemistry course (lab)
  • Math 101
  • Env Ethics (Phil 230)
  • Statistics (Stat 204)

Note: All BS degrees at Sewanee require four science/math courses outside the major; two with lab
