Professor Robert (Rob) Bachman was named as the Council on Undergraduate Research’s (CUR) Volunteer of the Year for 2014-15 at CUR’s Annual Business Meeting, held from June 25-27 at the University of Oklahoma. This award, selected by CUR’s national office staff, recognized Rob for his work as Chair of CUR’s Nominations Committee. As chair of the committee, Rob has focused on both enhanced recruiting of the divisional officers (Councilors) that do much of the organization’s work and in improving the nominations and election processes. In addition to his work on the Nominations Committee, Rob has served as a Councilor in the Division of Chemistry since 2008.
Founded in 1978, CUR is a 10,000 plus member organization dedicated to promoting and supporting high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative scholarship. It offers faculty development opportunities throughout the year via workshops, institutes, and a mentoring network. Student programming includes the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary at UNC-Ashville in April 2016.
